Having been
brought up as an only child with dogs as my constant companion ... my
friend, my toy and my playmate, I would make up story lines and a world of
make-believe. I have been left alone too long that my imagination most
times runs
wild. I talk better to my dogs or to my monitor screen as I do stutter in
front of people. Along the way I just picked up my dogs' traits and characteristics ... how they see the
world and people. A dog is a dog and I know I am no dog. I am human
faithful to my dog while he is a dog, ever-loyal and true to me, his
human! Things I learned from my dog, the dreamer that I am, this is my
wish list:
I WISH
FOR
...
Humans not to treat dogs as if they were material properties, not breed them for
monetary gain and for dog people to be more responsible with their dog when they
have one and yes, not be cruel to them.
...
Humans to learn from the dog whatever they can from loyalty and faithfulness if
they are not one and the same; simplicity; content; trust and security; bonding
relationships; respect, rank and honour; forgiveness; candidness and
spontaneity; happiness and enjoyment; honesty and truthfulness; wit by
observation; simple pleasures and humour; happiness and enjoyment of life that
which is immaterial; territoriality, the importance of space!
...
More people to open their hearts to the dog, let them in their lives and
experience what I have all my life. Having memorized 149 breed standards
at age 9, I wish to experience as many breeds as I can and be owned by them at
least once during the course of my life time. Do I want to be an
All-Breeds Judge?
NAH!
I DO NOT
WISH FOR
...
Best In Show Wins one after the other, not even Group Wins. Group
placements are fine especially 3rd and 4th since that means we don't have to
stay until the BIS competition for nothing. But I do wish to finish as
many champions as I can, Grand Champs-more so and perhaps, more Hall of Fames
... why not? Although, I'd much rather have Register of Merit
Top Producers and home-bred dogs winning top awards and going down the history
of the breed producing progeny with desirable traits.
...
More ignorant people going into backyard breeding, much more becoming
puppy-millers. More people getting a dog because it is a fad to have
the breed they just saw on TV or compulsively buying a puppy off the Pet Store
Window. I do not wish for more kennel blind dog people who do not see
faults of their dogs and breed ém even if their dogs are throwing out bad genes
right and left.
...
More Stupid dog show judges coming over to judge my dogs with the wife asking me
during break time, "What kind of a dog is that?" pointing to the blue
merle Australian Shepherd nor judges who do not do their homework before they
accept any judging assignments. These judges are more likely to give
awards to breeds they are sure of and not on based on the breed standard.
Oh and yes, there are those who seem to think that they are "god"
inside the ring and that every word or comment they utter is but the
truth. Oh poor gullible souls believe everything he says and not realizing
that it's just a way out of a situation, does not really know anything about the
breed he is evaluating. Oh yes, there are those too that are too old,
suffers heat strokes or their hands shaking out of old age ... they have a
tendency to grip balls hard and that my dear is how you ruin a perfectly good
show-trained dog! I don't really mind judges who take a long time to
decide probably because of uncertainty but what I mind is when they turn the
whole dog show into a landesgrupen one and the sun sets in!
...
More win-hungry, cut-throat, highly competitive show enthusiast. Goes very
well with those wearing blinders and see only their dogs! Some don't even
give their dog a pat on the head even after a win when the win isn't so
big. What's worse is that when the dog starts losing, they either sell it
or give it away and buy another one until it stops winning again.
...
More dog people practicing extreme (Pure-bred) sports a.k.a. Bin Maddened.
More so, in their extremist passion forget that once they were just dog lovers
at heart! Whether we, you or me, have working or conformation lines ...
deep down inside, we're just dog-gone crazy people madly in love with our canine
friends!
Well, this
is all for now. I will add some more in time as I see fit.
NOW HERE
IS THE FUN PART! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT I WANT,
